Continuous Monitoring Strategy
Objectives and cadence for ongoing evidence collection after modernization.
Purpose
Modernization does not end at cutover. Continuous monitoring detects drift, confirms controls remain effective, and supplies evidence for residual risk reviews and compliance reporting.
Objectives
- Detect configuration and attribute drift within a defined window.
- Confirm that Conditional Access, compliance policies, and governance attributes remain effective.
- Provide evidence for residual risk acceptance and control assessments.
- Alert on high-severity findings before they become incidents.
Cadence
| Signal type | Collection frequency | Review frequency |
|---|---|---|
| Critical drift findings | Continuous or hourly | Immediate |
| Compliance and Conditional Access hits | Daily | Weekly |
| Attribute and group membership changes | Daily | Weekly |
| Residual risk register | — | Monthly or on change |
| Full control assessment | — | Quarterly |
Evidence retention
Retain findings, approvals, and verification results long enough to support audit and incident review. Evidence is immutable once written.
Cleaned extraction for project use.
